Our buddies are gonna experience joy, adventure, friendship and love,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> said Jim. <em><strong>\u201cYou\u2019re gonna see some big smiles on their face because they are exhilarated being pushed by their Power Buddies, and being included, running alongside fast runners, and some of our Power Buddies are fast, just like Max.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the race, 15 dual teams will participate in the race, with the volunteer <strong>\u201cPower Buddies\u201d<\/strong> serving as the engines for each team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201cWhen you become the legs for someone who doesn\u2019t have the ability to run, it\u2019s like one of the most euphoric feelings you can ever have, and crossing the finish line for them, and with them, and not for yourself, there is no better feeling in the world,\u201d<\/em> said Max Fink.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Special Compass organization has brought light to many over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jim\u2019s journey took a profound turn with the birth of his son, Michael.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201cMy son Michael was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite his son\u2019s diagnosis, Michael loved sports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201cIn year five, Michael wanted to participate in a duathlon race, a 5K run, a 30K bike, a 5K run, and it was then that we knew Michael enjoyed sports,\u201d<\/em> said Jim, <em>\u201cand Michael skydived at the age of 18.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s when Jim became Michael\u2019s engine, and together, the two gained a staggering athletic r\u00e9sum\u00e9, with seven Ironman triathlons and two paddleboard crossings from the Bahamas to Florida.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201cMiami Marathon, let\u2019s go!\u201d<\/em> said Michael.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every mile conquered helped prove that while Michael may navigate the world differently, nothing would be out of their reach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201cMichael is the epitome of adventure, inclusion,\u201d<\/em> said Jim.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the race, the two will be ready for a new adventure, alongside other Special Compass participants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copyright 2025 Sunbeam Television Corp.
